At CES we saw Acer launch the Iconia B1 Android Jelly Bean tablet, which was launched for $149. Later, the device came to India for Rs 7,999, but now there are rumblings via China Times which suggest that Acer could be developing a sub-$250 quad-core processor equipped 10-inch tablet. This is only the iceberg, as the report further suggests that Acer is also developing a 8-inch tablet that will cost $200. Also Read - Laptop guide: 5 best laptops under Rs 30,000 you can get for work from home
Of course, the recently launched Iconia B1 tablet was not exactly ground breaking as it only had a 1GHz single-core processor and had a 7-inch 1024×600 display.
We can expect even these two tablets to have MediaTek SoCs like the Iconia B1, but if we do get a 10-inch quad-core tablet at such a low-price point, it may help Android gain a foothold in the 10-inch market, an area of weakness for the platform.
