While speaking to Focus Taiwan, Jim Wong, Corporate President of Acer said, Mobile devices larger than 5-inches that still can be held with one hand are becoming very popular among women and elder citizens. Our first-generation phablet will be launched this year and the new device will be showcased at Computex Taipei scheduled for June 4-8.
Though Jim Wong didn t share any hardware or software specifications, he did add that the upcoming 5-inch phablet will have certain special features in terms of size, camera and software. He also hinted at Acer following up with another phablet with bigger upgrades by the end of this year or early next year.
We do not know if or when this phablet will come to our shores. If it does, depending upon its price, it will face strong competition from the likes of Samsung Galaxy Grand, Galaxy Note series and the Micromax Canvas HD to name a few.
