OnePlus yesterday revealed that the forthcoming OnePlus 2 will be powered by a Snapdragon 810 chipset, and promised more such revelations in the run up to the launch. True to its word, today the company has revealed some details about the pricing of the flagship. Recent reports claimed that OnePlus 2 prices would start as low as 1,999 Yuan (Rs 20,644 approximately). This was not only in contrast to the 2,500 Yuan (Rs 26,000 approximately) price quoted by CEO Pete Lau, but also shocking when you consider it is less than what the OnePlus One launched at. Today, the company has refuted all earlier rumors saying that the OnePlus 2 will be priced upwards of $322 or Rs 20,540. It makes sense for the company to price it above the Rs 20,000 mark since the forthcoming flagship is widely expected to boast a better set of features and build materials.
OnePlus says as much,
The 810 is much more powerful than its younger counterpart, the 801, and is a much more expensive component. We re paying more for the 810 than we ever have for the 801. In fact, the cost is almost 60% higher, and we re not getting any discount. We can tell you now that the price of the 2 will certainly be higher than $322.
Yesterday, the company revealed the OnePlus 2 will be powered by a Snapdragon 810 chipset, which has been improved to overcome the overheating issues. Furthermore what seems like an extra layer of precaution, OnePlus has coated a layer of thermal gel and graphite on top of the processors across different areas of the phone. It says that the graphite ensures the heats from the processors dissipate evenly, and after rigorous testing, the 2 meets the industry standard for phone temperature, even with hours of use.
From what we have heard so far, it could flaunt a 5.5-inch full HD (1920 1080 pixels) display, 3GB of RAM, Adreno 430 GPU, 16-megapixel rear camera, 5-megapixel selfie camera, and on the software front, Android 5.1 Lollipop (wrapped under Oxygen OS in India/Hydrogen OS in China) out-of-the-box. While there is still no word on a launch date, reports generating out of China claim that the OnePlus 2 could be launched as early as next month.
