Xiaomi seems to be getting serious about ensuring that the air you breathe is safe and pure. After launching two generations of the Mi Air Purifier, the company is now gearing up to launch another air-quality related product in China tomorrow. Xiaomi has shared a teaser poster on its Weibo account with a photo of what looks like the air quality tester, which will be launched at 10:00AM Beijing time tomorrow, which is 7:30AM IST. The product in the poster seems to feature a display showing the quality of the air, connectivity and the battery level. This upcoming air quality tester would be a nice companion device to the Mi Air Purifier 2, which doesn’t really have a display. Instead, users have to check the quality of the air via the Mi Home app on Android and iOS. With a display, users will be able to easily keep a track of the air quality without having to check their phones. The tester could do much more than just telling you the quality of the air, but we will have to wait till the launch tomorrow to know more. It will debut on Xiaomi’s MIJIA crowdfunding platform.
Xiaomi had recently launched the Mi Air Purifier 2 in India with a price tag of Rs 9,999. It features a single motor with dual mixed booster fans and a three layer filter (PET Pre-filter, EPA filter and activated carbon filter). Each filter will last up to six months depending on your usage, and each replacement filter will set you back by Rs 2,499. Xiaomi says that the Mi Air Purifier 2 offers Clean Air Delivery Rate (CADR) of 310m3/h.
All this comes in quite a compact package with dimensions of 520x240mm. It is not only 40 percent smaller than the Mi Air, but also 10 percent smaller than an A4-size paper. The unit weighs 4.8kgs with the filter inside. Xiaomi also says that the Mi Air Purifier 2 is 11 percent quieter with lowest noise level at 30db, and 58 percent more power efficient than its predecessor. The upcoming air quality tester follows the launch of the Kiss Kiss Fish CC Cup vacuum flask last week. This CNY 179 (Rs 1,700 approximately) vacuum flask features an OLED display that shows the temperature inside up to an accuracy of five degrees Celsius. The flask can retain temperatures above 62 degrees Celsius for up to seven hours or more, and low temperatures below 10 degrees Celsius for up to six hours. The flask is available in colors like mint green, elegant gray, beige and cherry powder, and is also accompanied by a bunch of infusers for brewing tea, and cooking eggs. Xiaomi’s Kiss Kiss Fish CC Cup is currently listed on the company’s crowdfunding platform.
Besides the air quality tester, Xiaomi in the meanwhile is also rumored to be gearing up to launch the Redmi 4 along with an affordable variant dubbed Redmi 4A. Multiple leaks have given us a fair idea of what to expect from the upcoming smartphones. The Redmi 4 is expected to come with a 5-inch display, Snapdragon 625 processor, 3GB of RAM, and 32GB onboard storage. Other features could include a 13-megapixel rear camera with PDAF support, 5-megapixel selfie camera, 4G LTE support and a 4,000mAh battery.
