In what is a targeted attack on the Indian National Congress, the Twitter account of the party has been hacked. The hackers who go by the name ‘Legions’ seem to have taken control over the party’s Twitter account and are posting expletives and abuses. The hack has taken place after the Twitter handle of Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi was similarly compromised last night. At the time of filing this story, the Congress Twitter handle is still compromised and the hackers continue to push tweets filled with expletives and abuses. Last night, the hackers got access to Rahul Gandhi’s Twitter account and changed the handle to “Office of Retard Gan.” They even changed the account’s bio to “This is the official account of the Office of Retard Gandhi.” The hackers similarly pushed out tweets filled with expletives. Some of the tweets read, “My family is a bunch of corrupt f*cking retarded twat f*cks,” and “My corrupt f*cking family should burn to shreds. They f*cked this country upside down in 60 years. Looted the f*ck out bro!”
At the time of filing this story, Rahul Gandhi and his office seem to have taken back control of the Twitter account. The abusive tweets have been removed, and Gandhi responded to this episode with a tweet that reads, “To every one of you haters out there. I love all of you. You’re beautiful. Your hatred just doesn’t let you see it yet.”

“Rahul Gandhi’s Twitter handle has been hacked. We will file a complaint with the Cyber Cell of city police,” Pranav Jha, media coordinator, Congress, told IANS.
Meanwhile, some on Twitter are questioning the timing of the hack and whether it is a ploy by the ruling BJP government to divert attention from the demonetization issue, especially considering it is pay day and most banks and ATMs are either low or out of cash.
