Facebook seems to be slowly blurring the line between Twitter and itself. After introducing Verified profiles and pages last month, Facebook has now introduced the hashtags feature on its website to make it easier for users to keep track of public events, people, and topics. Hashtags on Facebook will function much in the same way as other services like Twitter and Instagram. When a user clicks on a particular hashtag, it will open a news feed showing all the posts and updates about that event or topic. Facebook will allow users to search for specific hashtags from its native search bar and also make hashtags from other services like Twitter or Instagram clickable.
Facebook will be slowly rolling out this feature to users and has also promised that in the coming weeks it will be introducing new features like trending hashtags and something called deeper insights, which is said to help people discover what people around the world are talking about.
