We are just three days away from the official launch of Apple s iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus. Last week, we came across a report that Apple is roping Airtel and Vodafone to sell the new iPhones. Now, Airtel has announced that it will start selling the new iPhones starting October 16 via its 235 retail stores across India. To celebrate the launch, Airtel has announced that it will keep 57 of its retail stores open all night for the customers to be one of the first to get their hands on the new iPhones. Users can also take advantage of Airtel s Infinity Plan, which includes freebies such as 60GB of 4G data for 12 months. Users need to visit offers.airtel.in from their new iPhone 6s or iPhone 6s Plus to avail the offer. It is most likely the Airtel Infinity Rs 1,499 (per month) plan, that offers 5GB of 4G data for browsing and downloading, unlimited local calls along with unlimited Wynk music streaming and video streaming. In comparison, Amazon India has also listed an exclusive offer for Vodafone users. Those pre-ordering an iPhone are entitled to a special Vodafone RED 1299 plan. As a part of this offer, Vodafone users will get free 4,000 minutes of talktime, 3GB of 3G data, and 1,500 free SMS each month for a period of six months.
In terms of real benefits, the Airtel plan seems more logical as it offers unlimited local calls and high speed 4G connectivity along with unlimited music and video streaming. However, it does not have any SMS plan.
Talking about the pricing, the iPhone 6s will sell at Rs 62,000, Rs 72,000 and Rs 82,000 for the 16GB, 64GB and 128GB variants, respectively. On the other hand, the iPhone 6s Plus will be priced at Rs 72,000, Rs 82,000 and Rs 92,000 for the 16GB, 64GB and 128GB variants, respectively.
The new iPhones come with the new 3D Touch display, faster A9 processor, higher resolution front and rear cameras and new Touch ID sensor. The iPhone 6s has a 4.7-inch HD Retina display, whereas the iPhone 6s Plus has a 5.5-inch full HD display.
Both smartphones are powered by 64-bit A9 processor paired with an M9 motion coprocessor and 2GB of RAM. For photography lovers, there is a 12-megapixel rear camera with true-tone LED flash and 5-megapixel Facetime camera at the front. One noticeable difference is that the iPhone 6S Plus camera also includes optical image stabilization.
On the connectivity front, both smartphones come with NFC, 4G LTE, Wi-Fi 802.11ac and Bluetooth. There are three storage options to choose from 16GB, 64GB and 128GB. Another difference is the battery capacity the iPhone 6s comes with 1,710mAh battery whereas the iPhone 6s Plus comes with 2,915mAh battery. Both smartphones run on iOS 9 out-of-the-box.
