Last year Samsung launched the Galaxy Note 7 smartphone, which had to face a global recall because of its infamous exploding battery fiasco. And following that, the Galaxy Note 8 was naturally a very important step for Samsung to regain its trust in customers. Launched globally last month, the Galaxy Note 8 was up for pre-orders from the same day, that is August 24. Samsung has now announced that the Galaxy Note series is still going strong as more people have pre-ordered the phablet in the US than any previous Galaxy Note device within the same period of time. For those who haven t yet pre-ordered, the last day to book the phablet is September 14, as the company guarantees availability of the device in stores starting September 15. You can also pre-order a Samsung Gear VR with Controller along with the phone as well.
Commenting on the pre-order numbers, Samsung’s president and chief executive officer, Samsung Electronics North America, Tim Baxter said, we re thrilled to see the strong consumer response to the next level Note . Today s consumers want to do bigger things in work and life, and Note helps make that possible. We built the Galaxy Note 8 for people who desire a device that lets them be productive and allows for self-expression,” he further added.
As far as the Indian market is concerned, the company has sent out media invites for an India launch event on September 12, which is the same day when Apple is hosting its annual event to launch the new iPhones. Though nothing’s confirmed, but the Galaxy Note 8 has been speculated to be priced at either Rs 69,900 or Rs 74,900. During its first sale, the Galaxy Note 8 will be available in two colors of black and gold in India.

Just like the Galaxy S8 duo, the Galaxy Note 8 also sports Infinity Display with an aspect ratio of 18.5:9. The 6.3-inch screen is Super AMOLED with a resolution of 1440 x 2960 pixels. Under the hood, the phablet is powered by a 64-bit Exynos 8895 octa-core processor chipset. It comes with 6GB of RAM and three expandable storage variants of 64GB, 128GB, and 256GB. This is also Samsung s first smartphone to feature dual camera setup at the rear with portrait mode and dual optical image stabilization (OIS). It sports a pair of 12-megapixel wide-angle lens and a telephoto lens. The 8-megapixel front camera also comes with optical image stabilization.
The Galaxy Note 8 is fueled by a 3,300mAh battery with fast charging support, both wired and wireless. Its connectivity options include Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.0, 4G, VoLTE and USB Type-C port. Samsung is the top brand in India with 43 percent market share in the smartphone segment, with Apple launching the iPhone 8 and Samsung launching the Galaxy Note 8 on the same day, now, it remains to be seen as to which phone lures the consumers more.
