At the Google I/O 2018 developer conference, the search giant introduced a new and revamped Artificial Intelligence (AI) powered Google News app. Google also mentioned that the app will be rolled out to iOS users within a week. Right on cue, the Google News app is now available to download from the iOS App Store.
One of the key highlights of the revamped Google News app is that it is powered by Artificial Intelligence (AI). It also uses Machine Learning (ML) to curate and surface the articles it thinks you will be interested in. The AI that powers the app can arrange stories around subjects, and then it can group them into local events. The app can also balance breaking news into chronological order. Also, the app will learn from your habits, and serve you with better news selection over time.

The app has four sections. The first one is “For You” which offers a personalized list of top five stories that Google think you will be interested in reading, along with other local news stories. The next section called “Headlines” offers a mix of latest news from sections such as India, World, Business and Sports among others. This section will also show you full coverage along with social media posts from YouTube and Twitter.
The last tab is called Newsstand where you can subscribe to popular magazines. You can also subscribe to a publication to view the latest coverage in mobile-friendly AMP standard.
