With the impending launch of Reliance Jio, and the recent roll out of Vodafone’s 4G service, Airtel is getting on the offensive. The supplement is basically a two-page ad for Airtel along with a freebie. The front page features a huge photo of Salman Khan and the caption — ‘Switch to 4G today. Enjoy free music, movies and games’. At the back, the ad showcases various benefits of switching to Airtel 4G, including the Wynk app and 4G plans at 3G prices.
If you are an existing Airtel user, you can switch to 4G by following these steps. Before removing your older SIM card, send a SMS — SIM <space> 19-digit SIM card number followed by U — to 121. Airtel will immediately revert with an SMS to confirm your request, and you have to reply with 1. After that, simply wait for the network to disappear. When it does, switch to the new SIM card and in network settings select 4G/LTE.
