Airtel is launching a new plan targeted towards voice calling users. It’s the telecom operator’s second long-validity plan, which will cost Rs 597 and will offer a validity of 168 days. Besides calling, Airtel is also offering some data benefits with it. The plan competes directly with Jio and BSNL’s long term prepaid plans. However, there is one catch. It will only be available for users in a few regions and not the whole market.
According to Telecomtalk, Airtel will be offering unlimited voice calling, without any FUP. The operator is also offering 100 SMS per day benefits till the validity period. In terms of data, users are only getting 10GB of data for the entire period, which is very less considering it is valid for 168 days. However, it should be noted that the plan is aimed towards call-oriented users. By that guess, Airtel might only launch it in tier-two and tier-three cities. But we’re still not sure where the plan will be available.
As mentioned, this is Airtel’s second long-validity prepaid plan. Airtel launched a Rs 995 plan in February, which offers unlimited calling, and carries a validity of 180 days. The plan carries 100 SMS per day benefits as well. However, the operator only offers 1GB of data benefits for a month, totaling up to 6GB for the entire 180 days. That’s 4GB less compared to the new Rs 597 plan.

That said, both these plans compete with Jio’s Rs 999 plan and BSNL’s new Eid Mubarak 786 plan. Both plans aren’t call oriented but offer unlimited voice calling and 100 SMS per day benefits as well. Additionally, the Jio plan offers a total of 60GB data and is valid for 90 days, while the new BSNL Eid Mubarak plan offers a whopping 300GB of data for 150 days. However, the BSNL plan will only be available till June 26. Only Jio’s plan comes with no catch and is available in the open market.
