Airtel today announced it has launched its 4G LTE services in Ludhiana. The announcement comes a few days after the carrier launched 4G LTE services for smartphone users in Mohali, Chandigarh and Panchkula. Airtel has rolled out mobile as well as dongle based 4G services in the city. Airtel already has 4G LTE services via mobile as well as dongle and Wi-Fi modems in Bangalore and is expected to soon launch the services in Gurgaon as well.
Like in other cities, the telecom carrier has partnered with Apple and will be offering the 4G on mobile services for iPhone 5s and iPhone 5c users. Apple iPhone users can experience 4G services right away by upgrading to a universal SIM or 4G SIM. Airtel if offering several special plans and packs like it does in other cities which have its 4G services.
Besides Apple’s iPhone 5s and iPhone 5c, users can also access the 4G services on mobiles including Xolo LT 900 and LG G2 (model D802T). The company says that it will offer a free 4G or universal SIM with the purchase of a 4G network enabled dongle or CPE. Those who don’t wish to buy a dongle or CPE can buy the SIM card for Rs 49. The dongles are available for Rs 1,500 and the modem is priced at Rs 2,500.
A few of the 4G special plans include Rs 999 plan for postpaid users which is applicable for all mobiles, dongles and modem users. Prepaid users can buy Rs 995 plan, however it will be valid for mobiles users only. Both these plans will offer free 10GB of 4G data valid for a month. For postpaid mobile users the plans will start from Rs 100.
