Airtel has made a move ahead on the government’s proposed “One Nation, One Circle” free-roaming service, and has introduced two new pre-paid packs for users to enjoy free incoming calls on national roaming. The service can be subscribed on daily basis or on monthly basis depending up on the pack being selected. The special tariff pack for free incoming calls while roaming for a day will cost Rs 5 and for 30 days will be priced at Rs 79. Recently TRAI had ordered all operators to slash prices on the roaming service with effect from July 1, instead of removing the roaming charges completely as being proposed by the government in NTP 2012.
According to the daily plan, on paying Rs 5 per day, Airtel subscribers will not be charged for incoming calls even on national roaming and will be charged 1.5p per second for outgoing calls for that day. In another plan, user can opt for a 30 days pack by paying Rs 79 to get free incoming calls on national roaming while the prices for an outgoing call will be slashed to 1.5 paisa per second in home circle and roaming.
