While Reliance Jio is giving away free voice local and STD calls with no terms and conditions applied, Airtel is offering two packs, priced at Rs 145 and Rs 345. With the first Rs 145 pack, 4G smartphone users get 300MB of 4G data with free local and STD Airtel to Airtel calls. For internet-enabled feature phones, customers get 50MB of data in addition to free Airtel to Airtel calls. The pack is valid for 28 days and is available for customers across India. The other data pack offers 1GB of data to 4G smartphone users along with free local and STD calls to any network in India. Like the previous pack, it offers 50MB data in addition to free calls to any network to customers with basic mobile phones. The validity of the pack is 28 days and is available for all Airtel users in India.

Airtel s new packs are still more expensive than Reliance Jio s current plans and also when its Free Offer expires. Right now, Jio is offering free 1GB of 4GB data per day along with free voice calls under its Happy New Year Offer, which is valid till March 31, 2017. Post the free offer, Reliance Jio s free voice plus data plan start at as low as Rs 19. The least expensive monthly plan is priced at Rs 149, which gives 0.3GB of data, unlimited surfing at night, and unlimited local and STD calls. That said, Reliance Jio may be offering free voice calls to its users, but still doesn t really score high on quality of services at the moment. The company and its users are still grappling with call drops issue. According toJio s own stats, therehave been 900crore blocked calls from top-three operators. However, the block rate has gone down from 90 percent to 20 percent, and Jio is positive that this number will go down even further.
