Airtel and Karbonn are continuing with their partnership with the launch of two new 4G smartphones in India. The telecom operator and the Indian smartphone manufacturer announced the A1 Indian and A41 Power. The Android-powered 4G smartphones carry an ‘effective price’ of Rs 1,799 and Rs 1,849, while their MRP is Rs 4,390 and Rs 4,290, respectively. The A1 Indian will be available on Amazon India starting today, while the A41 Power will be available from next week.
Both the devices come bundled with a monthly pack of Rs 169 from Airtel for data and calling benefits. If you want to purchase the A1 Indian, then you will be required to make a down payment of Rs 3,299, and for the A41 Power, you will be required to pay Rs 3,349 as down payment. Following this, you need to make 36 continuous monthly recharges of Rs 169 pack from Airtel. You will then be eligible for a cash refund of Rs 500 after 18 months and another Rs 1,000 after 36 months, thus, taking the total cash benefit to Rs 1,500.
In case you do not want to opt for the Rs 169 bundled plan, then you have the flexibility of doing recharges of any denomination and validity. However, to claim the cash refund benefit, recharges worth Rs 3,000 must be done within the first 18 months (for the first refund of Rs 500) and another Rs 3,000 over the next 18 months (for the remaining refund of Rs 1,000). It is worth noting that there is no requirement of returning the device to avail the cash benefit. The Karbonn A1 Indian and the Karbonn A41 Power phones are part of the companies’ ‘Mera Pehla Smartphone’ initiative. Both the phones are 4G-enabled and run Android 7.0 Nougat out-of-the-box. Airtel will partner with multiple mobile handset manufacturers to create an ‘open ecosystem’ of affordable 4G smartphones and bring them to market for virtually the price of a feature phone. Under the partnership, Airtel aims to partner multiple mobile handset manufacturers to create an ecosystem of affordable 4G smartphones. The phones out of this partnership are a direct take on the ‘effectively priced’ Rs 0 JioPhone by Reliance.
