Telecom companies are constantly revising their prepaid plans, and also bringing new ones to offer better benefits and compete with the rivals. Recently, Vodafone introduced a new Rs 169 prepaid plan, and also revised the Rs 199 and Rs 399 plans. Now, Airtel has also revised its Rs 199 plan to match Vodafone’s offering.
The Airtel prepaid recharge priced at Rs 199 is an open market plan available across all 22 circles. The plan comes with a validity of 28 days, and offers unlimited local and STD calling without any FUP, and 100SMS daily. Subscribers also get 1.5GB daily 2G / 3G / 4G data, allowing them to download up to 42GB through the validity period. Earlier, the plan used to offer 1.4GB data.
In comparison, the Rs 199 prepaid plan from Vodafone also offers 1.5GB daily 2G / 3G / 4G data, allowing users to download up to 42GB data through the validity of 28 days. The plan also includes unlimited local and national calling, unlimited SMS (100 per day), and unlimited roaming.
Unlike Airtel, Vodafone puts an FUP on outgoing calls. Daily calls are restricted to 250 minutes, whereas weekly calls are capped at 1,000 minutes. After the FUP limit is hit, users will either be charged 1.2 paise per second, or Re 1 per minute, depending on the segmentation. Also, once the daily data limit is hit, users can continue with high-speed internet access at 50 paise per MB.
