To better compete with each other, telecom operators have been revising some of their old plans to offer better data benefits, and also introducing new plans across different price points. Bharti Airtel has announced a new prepaid plan priced at Rs 398 to take on two Reliance Jio plans that are priced at Rs 398 and Rs 349. The Airtel prepaid plan will also compete with Rs 399 plan from Vodafone.
The Rs 398 plan from Airtel is an open market plan that is available in 22 telecom circles. It comes with a validity of 70 days, and offers 1.5GB high-speed 3G / 4G data on a daily basis. This means, through the validity of 70 days, users can download up to 105GB data. The plan also includes unlimited voice calls to any network, and 90 local and national SMS daily.
Reliance Jio, on the other hand, is offering 100 free SMS daily and unlimited local and national outgoing calls without any FUP. Both plans come with 70 days validity, but the data benefits differ. The Rs 349 plan offers 1.5GB daily data, whereas the Rs 398 plan offers 2GB daily data. The plans also include complimentary subscription to Jio app suite.
Vodafone also has a plan priced at Rs 399 which offers 70 days validity, unlimited local and national calling, and 100 free SMS daily. However, this is a small catch here. While Airtel and Jio offer unlimited calls without any FUP, Vodafone has capped weekly calls to 1,000 minutes, whereas daily calls are capped to 250 minutes. The plan also includes 1.4GB daily high-speed data.
