A couple of days ago Vodafone had introduced the pay-as-you-go scheme on 2G data for pre-paid and post-paid customers in selected circles, however it not just Vodafone as Airtel has also now lowered the 2G data tariffs on special packs some time back and has been offering it in several circles including Kerala, Kolkata, Orrisa, MP, UP East, Maharashtra, Haryana, Punjab and Gujarat.
Airtel slashes 2G data tariffs by up to 90 percent
Under these special tariff plans, Airtel has cut down the 2G data prices from 10p/10KB to 1p/10KB in aforementioned circles. This amounts to a price cut off up to 90 percent. Comparatively, Vodafone has lowered the 2G data tariffs by up to 80 percent and will now be charging 2p/10KB. The Vodafone plan was introduced in Karnataka, UP West and Madhya Pradesh & Chhattisgarh circles.
Though there was a catch in Vodafone’s plan as the operator had introduced the plans for those who have not subscribed to monthly data and those with such plans cannot avail this new rate. However according the Times of India, Airtel’s 2G data scheme in Haryana and Punjab suggests that after consuming the free download on special packages the customers will now be charged 1p/10 KB instead of the 10p/10KB charged earlier.
Also, reportedly the validity of the Rs 22 and Rs 25 recharge vouchers has been increased to 30 days and that of Rs 125 recharge vouchers has been increased to 90 days.
