The app beat Hungama’s Bollywood Songs and Hindi music app and Times Internet Limited’s Gaana app to reach the number two position in ‘Top Free Apps for Music & Audio’ category. However, Saavn still thrones that segment and remains on the number one position. The number of downloads do not indicate the amount of active users of the app.
Wynk has got an average 4.1 star rating by users so far. The app offers a library of 1.7 million regional and international songs across 8 languages (English, Hindi, Punjabi, Bhojpuri, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Bengali) and is a free-to-download app available on Android and iOS platforms.
Airtel even disclosed information on the trends that were witnessed in the first four days since launch. Songs from Salman Khan starrer Kick were the most searched even as Tu Meri from the upcoming Hrithik Roshan starrer Bang Bang was streamed the most. While pop sensation Yo Yo Honey Singh topped as the most popular artist on the app, Shakira is the only international artist to be among the top 10 category. Interestingly, yesteryear star Kishore Kumar ranked third.
With the free version of the app, users can stream songs of their choice online and tune into Internet radio. With Wynk Plus, users can enjoy unlimited in-app song downloads and play music offline at Rs 99 on Android and Rs 60 on iOS. Airtel is also offering its network users to upgrade to Wynk Plus at a slashed price of Rs 29 on Android phones.
