Android Oreo (Go Edition) is arriving in India through the Alcatel 1X, which is one of the first smartphones to run Google’s optimized OS for low-end handsets. The company has introduced the smartphone for the Indian market, but is yet to announce the official pricing for the device. Alcatel 1X specifications
The smartphone features a 5.34-inch display with 18:9 aspect ratio. Under the hood, an octa-core MediTek MT6739 SoC is paired with 1GB of RAM. There is also 16GB of internal storage, which is expandable via microSD card.
For optics, the Alcatel 1X is equipped with a 13-megapixel rear camera. Up front, there’s an 8-megapixel camera with auto-focus and flash.
Talking about the USP of the smartphone. With Google’s Android Oreo (Go Edition), the Alcatel 1X gets customized versions of the popular Android apps including Google Go, Google Maps Go, and YouTube Go among others. The idea is to deliver a seamless experience to those who are first-time smartphone users in regions where internet infrastructure is still developing.
The optimized apps offer performance without consuming more storage. The Alcatel 1X also comes with the customized Google Assistant. Keeping things ticking is a 2,460mAh battery. The smartphone further comes with support for 4G VoLTE.
