Alcatel had relatively a quite year so far. The company’s last smartphone to launch in India was the Alcatel X1, which went on sale in June this year. Now, the company is back with another smartphone, which is targeted at the entry-level segment. It has launched the Pixi 4, which is priced at Rs 4,999. The smartphone is successor to the Pixi 3, which was launched at the CES last year. The Pixi 4 comes with features like 4G, VoLTE support, and is also first Alcatel smartphone to come with Android 6.0 Marshmallow out-of-the-box. It is worth pointing out here that Alcatel had showcased a revamped Pixi smartphone range with 4-inch, 6-inch and 7-inch variants. But looks like Alcatel has a new 5-inch variant with the Pixi 4, for the Indian market. The smartphone comes preloaded with features like Google Translate, 1-finger zoom, Flip to mute, QR code scanner, Polaroid camera, Arkamys optimized speakers, HD voice, and Dual-mic Noise cancellation to name a few. Alcatel Pixi 4 specifications
The smartphone flaunts a 5-inch (480×854) FWVGA display. Under the hood the smartphone runs 1GHz quad-core MediaTek MTK6735M processor paired with 1GB of RAM. Also on offer is 8GB of internal storage, which can be further expanded up to 32GB via microSD card.
On the camera front, the smartphone comes with an 8-megapixel rear camera and a 5-megapixel front camera with flash. The in-built Polaroid software allows users to design their own photo collages and add effects. The smartphone comes with a 2,000mAh battery which the company claims is good enough to deliver up to 12 hour talk time, standby time of 473 hours and requires a charging time of 4.5 hours. On the connectivity front, the Alcatel Pixi 4 comes with dual-SIM, LTE, VoLTE, Bluetooth 4.0, GPS and microUSB.
The Alcatel Pixi 4 is one of the few under-Rs 5,000 smartphones to come with 4G VoLTE smartphone. The smartphone will compete against the likes of Reliance Digital LYF Flame 6 and Intex Aqua Ring. The smartphones are priced at Rs 2,999 and Rs 4,999 respectively. The LYF Flame 6 is among the cheapest smartphones available in India that supports 4G and VoLTE. The smartphone comes with a 4-inch WVGA (800×480 pixels) display with Dragontrail glass protection. It is powered by a 1.5GHz quad-core processor paired with Mali 400 GPU. There is also 512MB of RAM, and 4GB onboard storage that can be expanded up to 32GB via microSD card slot. On the camera front, the LYF Flame 6 sports 2-megapixel front and rear cameras. The rear camera is equipped with an LED flash. The device comes with a 1,750mAh battery. Apart from 4G and VoLTE, the smartphone supports Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0, dual SIM and micro-USB 2.0 port. It runs on Android 5.1 Lollipop out-of-the-box.
While on the other hand, the Intex Aqua Ring comes with the same price tag as that of Alcatel Pixi 4. In comparison, the Intex Aqua Ring comes with a 5-inch HD (1280×720 pixels) display, a 1.3GHz MediaTek MT6580A quad-core processor, 1GB of RAM, 8GB of internal storage expandable to 32GB. The smartphone sports a 5-megapixel rear camera, a 5-megapixel front-facing camera for selfie, 2,450mAh removable battery, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS/A-GPS, a MicroUSB port, G-Sensor, Proximity Sensor, Light Sensor. The smartphone runs on Android 6.0 Marshmallow out-of-the-box.
