A couple of weeks ago, we came across a report stating that the new iPhones may get the much-needed resolution boost — full HD and QHD display on the iPhone 7 and the iPhone 7 Plus, respectively. However, the leaked specification sheet spotted by PhoneArena reveals that Apple stick to the HD and full HD resolution on the 4.7-inch and 5.5-inch models. Under the hood, both iPhones are likely to be powered by Apple s 64-bit A10 chipset built on 16nm fabrication process. The new chipset is expected to offer up to 30 percent jump in performance compared to last year s A9 chipset. While the iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus either came with TSMC or Samsung built processors, Apple is reportedly getting the new chipsets only from TSMC. The leak also reveals 2GB of RAM for iPhone 7 and slightly larger 3GB of RAM for the iPhone 7 Plus.
Every Apple iPhone has come with improved camera module compared to its predecessor, and the same is expected this year too. While Apple is likely to continue with the 12-megapixel resolution, the company could go with larger aperture f/1.9, compared to f/2.2 on last year s iPhones. In terms of sensor size, the iPhone 7 could come with 1/2.6-inch one, whereas the Plus variant could come with 1/3-inch one. While the iPhone 7 camera module is also expected to gain support for optical image stabilization, the Plus variant is rumored to come with a dual camera setup. Reports suggest that one of the lenses could be used to capture photos, whereas the other one could be used to sense the depth information and add DSLR-like blur (Bokeh) effects to the photos, just like the HTC One M8 s dual camera setup.
Lastly, the leak also reveals details about the battery capacity, with iPhone 7 likely to come with 1,960mAh and iPhone 7 Plus to come armed with 2,910mAh batteries. From what we have learned so far, the new iPhones may not come with a complete design overhaul for, instead, it will come with minor design changes. The antenna bands at the back could be relocated along the top and bottom edge, giving the iPhones a much cleaner look. The 3.5mm audio port is also long rumored to go away, and audio is expected to be routed via Lighting port or Bluetooth. Both iPhones could also come with improved water and dust resistance capabilities. ALSO READ: 5 things we learnt (wishful thinking) from the Apple iPhone 7 launch invite
