The alleged Nexus 8 running on Android 5.1.1. Lollipop was sighted on Geekbench 3 benchmark by MobiPicker. This could be an early prototype, since the forthcoming Nexus devices are all expected to run on Android 6.0 Marshmallow out-of-the-box. The Geekbench 3 data also shows the tablet being powered by 1.3GHz octa-core processor. Considering this clock speed, it appears that the tablet may not come equipped with Snapdragon chipset, and instead by powered by a MediaTek Soc. The tablet is most likely expected to sport an 8-inch display.

At the time of filing this story, there s no word on which manufacturer has been roped into to manufacture the tablet. The first and second-generation Nexus 7 were made by Asus, while the Nexus 9 was made by HTC.
This being the first time we are hearing about the Nexus 8, take this news with a proverbial pinch of salt. If at all there s any truth in this, we expect more details to start surfacing in the coming weeks.
