Alleged Samsung Galaxy Note 8 phone cases have been spotted online. The cases give a look at the rear panel of the device and the camera cutouts. The latest leak gives a much clear idea about the structure and design of the smartphone. Samsung Galaxy Note 8 leaks in recent times have all hinted at the dual rear camera setup along with a rear fingerprint sensor, and the case design confirms the same. The cases are designed by Olixar and are up for pre-registrations. The case-maker has listed not just one but multiple variants of the Samsung Galaxy Note 8 case. The cases come in three different ranges – FlexiShield, X-Duo and Ultra-Thin. Olixar has previously too leaked device details by listing smartphone cases and the leaks have proved to be accurate. Right before the Samsung Galaxy Note 8, Olixar revealed the iPhone 8 design by listing a slew of iPhone 8 cases. And post the leak by the case-maker, we’ve seen multiple renders, 3D CAD images and more recently a dummy model of the iPhone 8, all resembling the design as is. Before the iPhone 8 and the Samsung Galaxy Note 8, Olixar listed the cases for iPhone 7 and Samsung Galaxy Note 7 – three months in advance.
While the latest listing does confirm the dual rear camera setup, it also unfortunately retains the rear fingerprint scanner design. This means Samsung has officially dropped all plans of going ahead with the display embedded fingerprint-scanner. The technology recently ran into problems after it was revealed that the in-display scanner was creating brightness issues, with the area around the sensor fluctuating. But while a rear fingerprint sensor is not disappointing, its placement definitely is.
The rear fingerprint sensor will come right next to the dual rear camera setup. While the dual rear camera lenses are placed horizontally next to each other, to their right is the LED flash and the laser sensor and right next to the flash is the rectangular fingerprint sensor. While on the Samsung Galaxy S8, the placement this close to the camera lens created a lot of annoyance for users, a similar placement in the upcoming Samsung Galaxy Note 8 is bound to make invite further criticizm. While recent Apple iPhone 8 leaks have flaunted a in-display fingerprint sensor design, it will be a tough task for the Galaxy Note 8 to match up. Also, considering the Galaxy Note 8 is rumored to be the most expensive Samsung phones of all times, the lack of concern shown by Samsung to user feedback could aggravate users. Post the Samsung Galaxy Note 7 debacle, Samsung is walking on thin ice with the Note 8 series and a little flaw could potentially ruin another flagship for the Korean giant.
Coming back to Olixar, the cases listed are priced between $5.49 (approximately Rs 355) to $21.49 (approximately Rs 1,400) on the US site. The cases do not reveal any specifications of the Galaxy Note 8 but then, the design is definitely confirmed. Samsung Galaxy Note 8 is expected to sport a 6.3-inch AMOLED display with Infinity Display. The smartphone will most likely be powered by a Snapdragon 835 chipset. The battery will be around 3,300mAh. The phone is expected to be available for sale in August or latest by September.
