Compressing 100 years worth of beauty in under a minute is a commendable job, and since the video went live, it has garnered more than three million views. Speaking to Yahoo Mike Gaston from Cut revealed the idea behind this video, and why they chose to portray beauty. “We thought, ‘Hey, what if we make this time lapse? Art director Jason Hakala researched on hair and makeup in the last 100 years, while the hair and makeup team involving Shyn Midili and Juel Bergholm gave the model her different looks over a seven hour shoot. The minute-long video emphasizes just 10 looks from the past century, but Gaston says that this is the first in a series of videos. “We’ll be introducing women and men of different ethnicities, body types, nationalities, and sexual orientations,” he said.
