The new Google Home speakers match Amazon Echo in terms of price and they also have wider support for apps like Google Play Music, Netflix, Gaana, Saavn and YouTube. One of the major advantages for Google Home speakers will be their support for YouTube, which won’t work with Google’s smart speakers due to the ongoing feud between the two brands. In order to limit the popularity of Google Home on its launch day, Amazon India has announced limited period discounts and offers on its own smart speakers. The e-commerce giant is offering discounts on purchase of two units of the Echo Dot or Echo speaker. The offer is valid between April 6 to April 12.
With the offer, customers buying two new Echo Dot speakers will be eligible for a discount of Rs 1,000. There will be a discount of Rs 3,000 on ordering two units of the Amazon Echo speaker. Amazon says these discounts will be automatically applied at the time of checkout and these offers are applicable for orders made from “Estore mall” or “Cloud connect_SLP” sellers on the platform.
To recall, the Amazon Echo Dot is priced at Rs 4,499 while the Echo can be purchased for Rs 9,999. The premium Echo Plus comes with a price tag of Rs 14,999. The smart speakers got a head start in India with the devices launching in October last year through an invite-based system.

Amazon’s Echo range of speakers are now available across both offline as well as online retail channels without an invite. Amazon had offered a flat discount of 30 percent on its Echo speakers as initial launch offer and also bundled one-year free subscription to Amazon Prime with any of the three speakers. With the offer not valid anymore, the Amazon Echo are priced just like Google Home and it will depend entirely on the smartphone ecosystem and apps that you use for music and other services.
