These privileges include access to deals 15 minutes before they are put up on the web, and 15 percent additional cashback on using HDFC cards (as opposed to 10 percent on the web). Registered users can also get a sneak peak at some of the deals that will go live on October 13.
Amazon India expects a huge rush on the days of the sale, and it has mentioned some tips to ensure a relatively smooth experience. These include downloading the app now, signing up and making sure that address and payment details are up-to-date.
Last year, Amazon India s Diwali Dhamaka sale followed Flipkart s Big Billion Day sale and both faced issues in coping with the huge traffic. Some users were unable to access the website, while others were unable to see any deals. Both the companies have however said that they have ramped up their capabilities to cope with huge rush during this festive season.
Despite the problems, it was Flipkart who owned the day as it garnered sales totaling $100 million in just 10 hours. It will be interesting to see how both the e-commerce sites fare this year, and which takes home the crown.
