Amazon India has re-branded its Now service to Amazon Prime Now, bringing the service under the ‘Prime’ branding and service that it runs for subscribing customers. The Amazon Prime subscription will bring added benefits in the category, and subscribing to the annual Prime package. Currently an Amazon Prime subscription is priced at Rs 999 per year in India, and includes delivery benefits such as no minimum order value for free deliver plus free one-day and two-day delivery, access to Prime Video and Prime Music streaming services, and more.
Amazon Prime Now is the company’s groceries and fast-moving consumer goods marketplace, and is currently available only in Delhi NCR, Mumbai, Bengaluru and Hyderabad, for select pin codes. Select goods are applicable for two-hour delivery, which will ensure that items ordered are delivered quickly. Good such as fresh fruits and vegetables, certain packaged food items, dairy and eggs, personal hygiene products and more can be quickly delivered to select pin codes.
Additionally, select electronics products are also applicable for two-hour delivery for select pin codes, such as mobile phones, tablets, headphones, kitchen and home appliances, and more. While the supported areas for this aren’t too extensive for now, Amazon India is working at expanding its reach.

Amazon Prime Now works only through the app, which is currently available for Android and iOS devices. Installing the app and logging in on your phone will give you access to various grocery and FMCG items that you can buy directly through the app. Payment options vary as well. Amazon India is fulfilling these orders through partner stores, which include Big Bazaar, Hypercity, Spar Hypermarket and more. The move is seen as an aggressive push into the grocery and FMCG space after Walmart’s recent acquisition of Amazon India’s biggest competitor, Flipkart.
