Amazon India has stealthily started offering pickup services in India starting with Delhi and Mumbai. With this service, buyers can select pick up points for package deliveries if they do not have an address where they can get their products shipped. At the moment, we can see that Amazon India has tied up with BPCL for using its In & Out stores at major petrol pumps as pickup locations.

UPDATE: Amazon India has confirmed it has tied up with BPCL to launch Amazon Pickup as a pilot project in Delhi and Mumbai. It will offer it in other cities depending on the feedback it receives from the pilot.

“We are continually innovating to find solutions that enhance the convenience and experience for our customers on Amazon.in. Towards that we are running a pilot in Delhi and Mumbai with BPCL to ascertain the benefits and mechanics of enabling a pick-up service. It is too early to comment any further. Depending on results, we will take a call on how and what we want to roll out and we will make further announcement on this at an appropriate time,” Amazon India said in a statement issued to BGR India.

While placing an order, users can select an alternative pickup location during check out. The package would be delivered to the selected pickup point and the buyer would be intimated about the package delivery. Post that they would be able to go and collect their package.

This service would be convenient for those who do not have anyone at home during working hours and cannot get products shipped to their offices. Amazon offers similar services in other countries too.
