Earlier today, e-commerce giant Amazon launched its highly-anticipated video-on-demand service, Amazon Prime Video, in India. The service offers an unlimited access to popular TV shows, movies, and exclusive shows from Amazon Originals. Pricing: Amazon Prime Video subscription will set you back by Rs 499 a year, which is less than Rs 50 a month. This is essentially what you pay for Amazon Prime service and you get Prime Video for free. In comparison, Netflix has its plans starting at Rs 500 a month, whereas Hotstar has its subscription priced at Rs 190 a month. Available on Android, iOS and PC: Amazon Prime video is available as an app for both Android and iOS-based smartphones and tablets. Users can also access it on any PC by going to www.primevideo.com.-
Offline download: Amazon Prime Video service also gives you the ability to download TV shows and movies on your smartphone or tablet for offline viewing. Unlike Netflix, where only some content can be downloaded, everything can be downloaded on Amazon Prime Video. The download feature, however, is not available on PC. Data Saver feature: In India, we re still struggling to get stable high-speed internet access. In fact, most users have limited data plans, and streaming or downloading high-quality videos could quickly eat up mobile data. To solve this problem, Amazon has included a data saver mode which lets you choose the stream and download quality – best, better, good and data saver. Original and Indian content: Amazon has partnered with Vishesh Films, Dharma Productions, T-Series, among others to bring you the latest Bollywood movies. The catalog also includes regional movies in Marathi, Telugu, Tamil and Bengali. Amazon is also working with Farhan Akthar, R Madhavan, Anurag Kashyap and AIB to produce more India-centric content.
Thanks to the content partnership with Green Gold Animation, animated series such as Chotta Bheem, Doremon, ShinChan are also a part of the list. What s more, you also get to watch Amazon Originals content such as The Grand Tour featuring former Top Gear stars Jeremy Clarkson, James May and Richard Hammond. Other original content include Transparent, The Man in High Castle, Hand of God, Mozart in the Jungle, and more.
Sub-titles and Indian audio languages: Some shows also come with sub-titles in Hindi, Marathi, Telugu and Bengali. Some shows also have the option of Hindi audio.
