Amazon is reportedly working on two new Fire TV products with both capable of playing 4K HDR videos at 60fps. The first Fire TV model is said to be designed similar to the Google Chromecast. It is likely to come in a dongle form factor with a permanently attached HDMI cable. The other Fire TV model is touted to be the flagship device and will be a cube-shaped set-top box. As reported by AFTVNews, one of the Fire TV devices will be in the mid-tier category, sitting between the existing Fire TV Stick and the flagship. Along with the HDMI plug on this Fire Stick model, it will also come with a microUSB port for connectivity like the Fire Stick. A leaked benchmark listing revealed some of its specifications such as a quad-core SoC running at 1.5GHz and Mali-450 MP GPU under its hood. In terms of memory, it will come with 2GB of RAM and 8GB of internal storage.
On the other hand, the flagship Fire TV will be equipped with far-field microphones, a built-in speaker, an IR emitter, and an LED light bar as well. The LED light bar will have the same functionality of accessing Alexa as on the Amazon Echo Dot. On this Fire TV, you wouldn’t need the remote to launch Alexa, and the voice commands will be audible even when the TV is turned off. The cube-shaped set-top box Fire TV is rumored to have two volume buttons, a mute button for microphones, and a dedicated Alexa button.
