There s not much seen in the images as the device is covered by a protective case. But the report says that this is one of at least two smartphones currently under development. This one is the higher-end device with a 4.7-inch 720p display, Snapdragon processor, and 2GB of RAM. It may not sound a lot, but specs are not the main criteria and Amazon is instead focusing on offering a unique user experience.
As we have reported before, Amazon s smartphone will be able to offer glass-free 3D effects. This is corroborated by BGR Classic s sources. The device will have cameras situated on each of the four corners on the front of the device, which are essentially low-power infrared cameras which will constantly track the user s eyes and face. The UI will then constantly change its perspective to give a 3D effect.
This 3D effect isn t gimmicky either, and Amazon is said to be deeply integrating this capability into the OS as well as the services. For example, when using the maps, by tilting the phone you will be able to change the viewpoint on the map, or when shopping for products you will be able to see them from different angles. Amazon is in fact roping in quite a few third party app developers for them to take advantage of these effects and keep their apps ready for the time of launch.
Speaking of launch, there is no specific date available at the moment, but the source does mention that it could be unveiled in the next two or three months. This is consistent with earlier reports which claim that the device is likely to be unveiled sometime in June.
