The likes of Motorola and HTC have recently released Android Lollipop updates for its smartphones in India, and Samsung is the latest to join the bandwagon. According to the folks at SamMobile, Samsung has started rolling out the Android 5.0.1 Lollipop update for Galaxy S4 users in India.

The update introduces Material Design to the user interface, as well as improvements to features like notifications, multitasking menu. The update also brings in new features like multiple user accounts, guest user mode, and Android Smart Lock among others. The Lollipop also promises a bump in the smartphone’s performance and battery life.

This is a gradual roll out, and Galaxy S4 users should be getting notifications for the update. Alternatively, you can also head over to Settings -> About phone -> Software updates menu.

While Android Lollipop is gradually reaching smartphones, it barely makes a mark in the overall Android distribution. As per last count, Lollipop runs on just 1.6 percent of Android installed base. KitKat still leads the pack with a 39.7 percent share.
