Asus will be shipping Android 9.0 Pie update for three of its smartphones starting next month. Yesterday, at the launch of ZenFone Max Pro M2 and the ZenFone Max M2 in New Delhi, Asus announced that it will be shipping Android 9.0 Pie FOTA update for the flagship Asus Zenfone 5Z and for the newly launched Asus Zenfone Max Pro M2 next month in January.
The Taiwanese firm will also be shipping Android 9.0 Pie FOTA update for its top-selling Asus Zenfone Max Pro M1 in February 2019. The Asus ZenFone 5Z was launched earlier this year with Android 8.1 Oreo-based ZenUI skin on top, while the ZenFone Max Pro M1 is company’s stock Android smartphone with Android Oreo version.
Coming to newly launched Asus ZenFone Max Pro M2, the smartphone is successor to Zenfone Max Pro M1 and it also runs near-stock version of Android 8.1 Oreo. Asus will be pushing a camera update for handset this month, and has assured consumers for next version of Android with two-year support.
Asus also reaffirmed on Twitter with an image noting timeline for Android 9.0 Pie FOTA update and wrote, “Before we begin, here’s some good news for Zenfone 5Z and Zenfone Max Pro M1 owners!”

Asus says that its phones are regularly updated and these devices at present have the security patch updated till October 2018. The last update for Asus Zenfone 5Z included optimized AI-based scene detection, as well as improved camera functions like brightness levels auto and HDR mode, auto white balance, and noise reduction.

On the other hand, October security patch for Asus Zenfone Max Pro (M1) was claimed to improve power optimization and enhance waking up the device by double tapping/swiping up on the display by Asus.
