There have been numerous rumors around when Google will unveil the next Nexus devices as well as the Android L update. Adding to that list is a report on Android Authority, which cites Android blogger Paul O Brien as claiming that the next Android update will be released on November 1. As with many rumors, Paul O Brien claims to have gotten this piece of information from sources familiar with Google s plans. He further reveals that the Android update will first be previewed on October 15 or 16 alongside the new HTC-built Nexus tablet, and then release on November 1. Earlier this week, WSJ all but confirmed that HTC had indeed partnered Google to build the Nexus 9 tablet. From what we know so far, the tablet codenamed Volantis is said to feature a display with a resolution of 2048 1440 pixels, Tegra K1 processor, 2GB of RAM, 8-megapixel rear camera with optical image stabilization, 3-megapixel front-facing camera, and front-facing stereo speakers. The tablet is expected to run on Android L out of the box.
Speaking of which, there is still much that is unknown about the operating system update. For one, the jury is still out on what it could be called. Though some reports claim it could be called Lemon Meringue Pie, it is not official. Google first unveiled Android L at I/O earlier this year and here is a detailed list of features that will arrive on the update.
