HMD Global‘s Juho Sarvikas confirmed in a response on Twitter saying that the Nokia 3 will soon be upgraded to Android Oreo, with the beta test to be out in a few days. In the same tweet, Sarvikas also announced that the Nokia 2 will also be soon receiving an upgrade. However, it will jump directly to Nokia 8.1 Oreo.
He revealed that the jump is intended so that the Nokia 2 can take advantage of memory optimization features, given that it is a 1GB RAM device.

The update will bring features such as the popular Picture-in-Picture mode, which allows you to watch a video and use another app at the same time. Android Oreo will also bring access to features such as Notification Dots, Notification Channels, Android Instant Apps, and Autofill for passwords. Users will also get Oreo’s feature that limits the smartphone’s background activity for the least used apps. Android Oreo will also optimize the smartphone to save battery.
