Yesterday, Google announced the official release of Android 8.0, and called it Oreo. In its official release video, Google portrayed Android Oreo as the superhero that has now landed on Earth to make everything better, or as Google would say sweeter . And to make that happen, Oreo brings a bunch of improvements like notifications channel customization, improved multi-tasking, autofill option, among others. However, we realized that the real testimony of the operating system s sweetness can only be given by the users. The result of the poll was quite expected actually, at least the winning feature. The most votes went to picture-in-picture, which was favored by 50 percent of the voters. Picture-in-picture is essentially an improved multitasking feature, which along with allowing you to view two apps at the same time, also allows you to work on two of them simultaneously. This may include texting someone while watching videos on YouTube.
The second highest votes went to the notification dots and notification channel feature. 28 percent people voted in favor of the feature, making it the second-most anticipated feature by Android users. Not to confuse, notification dots and notification channels are not the same features, but they branch out of the same category. Notification dots is similar to how 3D touch allows you to view shortcuts to an app on iOS, the dots will allow Android Oreo users to view the notifications of each app without needing to launch the app. Just press the notification dots to quickly see what s new, and easily clear them by swiping away. Notification channel, on the other hand, is how users will be allowed to modify alerts for the entire channel on Android Oreo. This can be specifying the sounds if the notification triggers a vibration, and if the notification is allowed to override the do-not-disturb setting. The third-most popular is the new and redesigned set of emoji in Android Oreo with 12 percent votes, and the least sweetest of all was awarded to auto turn on Wi-Fi feature with just 10 percent votes. Essentially in Android Oreo, using the Wi-Fi Aware feature, the device will be able to detect and connect to the nearest Wi-Fi. Android 8.0 Oreo is also adding a fully redesigned emoji set, including over 60 new emojis. ALSO READ: Android Oreo: Here s a look at some of its sweetest features
