We earlier reported that Apple is set to launch the successor to its iPhone 5 later this year and this is generally the time when rumors begin to slowly trickle in. Sticking to the tradition, Vietnamese blog Tinhte, now claims to have confirmed through a source that the next iPhone or the iPhone 5S, as it is also known, will sport a 12-megapixel HD camera. According to the report, the 12-megapixel camera will shoot photos in HD and also come with better night-time shooting capabilities. The blog seems to have confirmed this piece of news through a source working at Wonderful Saigon Electrics (WSE), a company that already makes camera modules for Apple s devices and hence may not be far from the truth. Tinhte has had a good record of iPhone-related scoops and they had a working iPhone 5 unit before Apple officially announced the phone.
In addition to the source, this rumor also stays true to our previous report, wherein we said that the iPhone 5S will sport a bigger 4.5-inch screen and will include a dual-LED flash stacked on top of one another to improve the phone s low-light photo clicking abilities.
As with all rumors, this piece of news should also be taken with a pinch of salt, though a new iPhone with a bigger camera is what we have been expecting for some time now. With the likes of HTC, Nokia and Samsung taking a phone s photo clicking abilities to all new levels, Apple has to step up its game to compete with these flagship phones.
