Apple is expected to launch three new iPhones at its fall event in September this year. According to noted analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, all the three models will feature an edge-to-edge display design similar to current iPhone X and offer Face ID for unlocking the device and authenticate payments.
Kuo, who has left KGI Securities for TF International Securities, believes two of the new iPhones launching in 2018 will sport OLED display while the third model will use LCD panel. This third device with iPhone X-like design and cheaper 6.1-inch LCD display is said to drive upgrades and huge sales volume for the Cupertino-based company this year. In his new investor note, Kuo details the pricing and what to expect from the LCD model.
According to Kuo, the 6.1-inch LCD model will sport an all-screen design similar to that of iPhone X. He argues that the mass production is more difficult than iPhone 8 models due to this redesign. While Kuo believes that mass production will kick off later in the year, he does expect models to be ready in time for their release in September. Last year, Apple showcased the iPhone X at its September event but the device started shipping only in November.
Kuo reiterates the LCD model will retail in the $600-$700 (around Rs 41,500 -Rs 48,500) price range, which will make it the successor to existing iPhone 8 and yet offer design seen on the more expensive $999 iPhone X. Apple is maintaining the price by retaining the LCD panel seen on current iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus and dropping the pressure sensitive 3D Touch features. The LCD model is also predicted to feature single rear camera.
As opposed to most other reports, Kuo believes Apple will have iPhone with LCD display even in 2019. He claims that Apple will release upgraded versions of this fall’s hardware next year. The LCD model is said to accompany 5.8-inch iPhone X and a Plus-sized model with 6.5-inch display. All the three models are expected to include an 18W charger that enables fast charging on the iPhone.

Apart from these three new iPhone models, Kuo says Apple will launch a cheaper MacBook Air, iPad Pro models with Face ID and Apple Watch models with larger display. He also states that 2019 iPhones will have ‘marked innovation based on past experience’ but details about future models are not known just yet.
