If there were still any doubts left whether the iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C would work on Airtel’s 4G network in Bangalore, here’s the confirmation directly from Apple. On Apple’s page for LTE support, the company has listed iPhone 5S (A1530 variant) and iPhone 5C (A1529 variant) as compatible with Airtel’s 4G LTE network in India. These are the same models that are being sold in India, however are different from the ones sold in the US.
Earlier today we had reported that Apple had started pushing out a carrier setting update for the iPhone 5C and iPhone 5S users on Airtel’s network in India. The update enabled the toggle switch to switch on LTE data, which was earlier limited to 3G. Airtel will be launching 4G LTE on smartphones later this month in Bangalore. Airtel has deployed its 4G LTE network in Kolkata, Chandigarh and Pune apart from Bangalore.
