Last night Apple announced new products iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus, and Apple Watch. And as is the tradition, Apple also discontinued some products. The massively popular iPod Classic is no longer available, at least through Apple s own store. And neither is iPhone 4S, for that matter. After every device announcement, Apple refreshes its inventories on the store, adding new products and letting a few go. And this time, the iPod Classic and iPhone 4S are being chopped off. Also Read - iPhone SE (2020) gets a massive discount, available at the lowest ever price
Announced in 2001, iPod Classic was a portable media player. The lineup saw six generations of iPods come and go, bumping up the storage capacity from 5GB through 160GB. The device is often credited for revolutionizing the music industry. The iPod Shuffle is still available on sale, though.
On the other hand, iPhone 4S demise was forthcoming. Just yesterday, we speculated that Apple might discontinue this three generation old iPhone. Last year at the launch of the iPhone 5C and iPhone 5S, Apple had made iPhone 4S available for free through several networks in the United States.
Additionally, the 30-pin connector, which was used to charge old iPhones (including and especially the iPhone 4S), and iPads, has also been discontinued.
