Apple is likely to host a press event on October 4, All Things D reports. The proceedings are expected to be headed by Apple’s newly appointed CEO, Tim Cook. Apple’s Fall event usually features its new range of iPods but this year it is more likely to be dominated by the next generation iPhone, which could either be called iPhone 5 or iPhone 4S, according to market speculation. Apple will, in all likelihood, also release its next major update of iOS, called iOS 5, at the event, if it does not launch it earlier. It is not clear at the moment whether Steve Jobs will make an appearance at the event or not.
