The technology industry is all ready for the second hardware launch event for 2018 by Apple. The company is expected to launch a number of new hardware devices at the launch event including the 2018 iPad Pro without the home button along with thinner bezels, refreshed versions of the iPad Mini, MacBook, and Mac mini. The company is also expected to launch a new and updated version of the MacBook Air or some alternative to that in addition with AirPods 2, and the much delayed AirPower charging mat. But if you think that the launch will be focused just on hardware then that is not the case. Also Read - iPhone 12 probably not shipping with Apple EarPods, hints iOS 14 codes

According to a new report, Apple is expected to launch the next version of iOS as early as tomorrow. The new version that we are referring to is iOS 12.1. As per 9to5Mac, it looks like iOS 12.1 will come with the eSIM functionality that Apple introduced with its latest 2018 iPhone lineup. The company initially revealed at launch that the functionality will be enabled later in the Fall, and the timeline matches with that announcement. The eSIM feature will technically turn the 2018 lineup of iPhone devices in dual-SIM devices, a first for Apple. The report added that a number of telecom carriers in the US and Europe have been instructed to start deploying the eSIM contracts from October 30. Talking about India, a tweet by Airtel India while responding to a question seemed to confirm the information. This means that after this update, users will be able to use two numbers on their iPhone devices (2018 lineup).

All three devices, the iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max, and iPhone XR come with dual-SIM Dual Standby which means that both SIMs will be active at the same time for calls, data services, or calls. The report also indicated that Apple Stores may have stated receiving special QR codes. Customers who want to set up their eSIMs will just need to scan the QR code, and the necessary information will be automatically filled.
