According to a 9to5 Mac report, the new iOS 12 developer beta 5 released today, showcases images of a new wireless charging case alongside what could possibly be a new set of AirPods. Compared to the previous case, one of the key differences here is the inclusion of an LED on the outside. It has been designed to give users an indication of the charging status. The report suggests it to display an amber light when on low charge, and a green light after the charging is complete. Interestingly, the AirPods stated next to the case are mentioned as AirPods 1,2. This leads us to believe that they are the second-generation wireless earbuds, as the current ones are listed as AirPods 1,1. That said, it is still unclear if Apple will ship new AirPods with the wireless charging case or simply make it available as an add-on accessory, you can buy for the current AirPods.

Apple initially announced the AirPower charging mat in the September last year. At the event, the company stated it to be available in 2018, but did not give any specific date. While many expected them to hit market shelves in March, the launch of the product seems to have been delayed time-and-again. There is good chance that the company might unveil it alongside the new iPhones in October.
