After announcing the iOS 9 in June at WWDC 2015, Apple is finally releasing the new OS today. The iOS 9 update comes with a slew of new features such as Proactive Assistant, improved Siri, multitasking for iPad and a revamped notes app. The update also brings new QuickType keyboard with Hindi transliteration feature. Improved battery life and new features in Apple Maps are other improvements that will come along with the iOS 9 update. It is important to note that the new iOS 9 update will be available for the iPhone 4s, iPhone 5, iPhone 5c, iPhone 5s, iPhone 6 and the iPhone 6 Plus. The iPad mini, iPad mini Retina, iPad mini 3, iPad 2, rd generation iPad, 4th generation iPad, iPad Air, iPad Air 2, 5th generation iPod touch and 6th generation iPod touch are among the other compatible devices. The recently announced iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus will come with iOS 9 pre-installed.
To download and install the iOS 9 update, you ll need at least 1.5GB of free space on your iOS device. If your device doesn t have that much of space, don t panic and start deleting apps and data. Instead of OTA update, use iTunes for updating to iOS 9.
How to download iOS 9?
Using iTunes: To update using iTunes, you need to connect you Apple device to the computer using data cable and click on Check for Updates . If the update is available, it will prompt you to download it. Just click on install and iTunes will do the rest.
Using OTA (Over-the-Air): To download the update directly on your device using OTA (over-the-air), click on Settings > General > Software Update > Download and Install. Once the download is complete, your device will reboot to install the update.
Note: Before you begin with the update process; ensure that battery is fully charged. Also, to be on a safer side, we highly recommend you to take the data backup of your device using iTunes. While the download may take a while, depending on your internet speed, it may take another 20-30 minutes to install the update and migrate your data.
