We exclusively reported earlier this week that preorders for the new iPad Air 2 and iPad mini 3 was set to begin soon, before going on sale towards the end of this month. Almost on cue, Flipkart has started taking preorders for the new iPads. Update: e-commerce site Infibeam too has started taking preorders for the iPad Air 2, and the iPad mini 3.
All 18 variants of the iPad Air 2 and iPad mini 3 are up for preorders on Flipkart. As for availability, the e-commerce site says that the new iPads are going to release by the end of this month. This is in line with our exclusive report. Prices for the iPad Air 2 starts at Rs 35,900, while prices for the iPad mini 3 start at Rs 28,900.
To recap on the specifications, the iPad Air 2 features a 9.7-inch (2048×1536 pixels) display at a pixel density of 264ppi and anti-reflective coating. It is powered by an A8X processor paired with 2GB of RAM, and includes an 8-megapixel iSight camera, 1.2-megapixel FaceTime camera, connectivity options like Wi-Fi 802.11ac and support for up to up to 20 LTE bands, and TouchID sensor.
As mentioned above, the iPad Air 2 is priced at Rs 35,900 for the 16GB Wi-Fi model, Rs 42,900 for the 64GB Wi-Fi model, and Rs 49,900 for the 128GB Wi-Fi model. The Wi-Fi + Cellular models, on the other hand, are priced at Rs 45,900 for the 16GB, Rs 52,900 for the 64GB variant, and Rs 59,900 for the 128GB variant.
As for the iPad mini 3, it is but a minor update over last year’s iPad mini 2. It features a 7.9-inch (2048×1536 pixels) display, and is powered by a 64-bit A7 dual-core processor paired with M7 coprocessor and 1GB of RAM. It also includes a 5-megapixel rear camera, 1.2-megapixel front camera, a battery that is good enough to last 10 hours, and a TouchID sensor.
The iPad mini 3 is priced at Rs 28,900 for the 16GB Wi-Fi variant, Rs 35,900 for the 64GB variant and Rs 42,900 for the 128GB variant. The Wi-Fi + Cellular models are priced at Rs 38,900 for the 16GB variant, 45,900 for the 64GB variant, and Rs 52,900 for the 128GB variant.
