Apple s next-generation iPad Air 2 is expected to be unveiled on October 16, alongside Retina iMacs and the release of Yosemite. A week before the event, photos of the forthcoming iPad Air 2 have surfaced online, courtesy of Vietnamese blog Tinhte.vn. The photos show the tablet from all possible angles and one of the first things you notice is just how thin the iPad Air 2 really is. The tablet is claimed to be only 7mm thin, which is the similar to the new iPhone 6 (6.9mm) and iPhone 6 Plus (7.1mm). As for design, it is in line with the iPad Air, but one glaring absentee is the mute button on the side. The publication the button was not included to achieve the thinness. Also seen in the photo is the TouchID sensor integrated into the home button. The forthcoming tablet is also rumored to have an anti-reflective screen, but it is still remains a rumor since the publication doesn t have the photo of the tablet switched on.
Though the tablet in the photos looks quite genuine, the finishing (or rather the lack of) means it is a prototype. There could still be changes on Apple s final release.
From what we know so far, the iPad Air 2 is said to boast a 9.7-inch display, A8 processor, 2GB of RAM, 32/64/128GB versions, an 8-megapixel rear camera, and FaceTime HD front-facing camera. Additionally, there have also been of a new gold variant to match the color parity of Apple s iPhones.
