Apple never reveals the RAM in its iPhones and iPads, leaving users to keep guessing till the initial reviews or tests publish the details. With the latest edition iPad Pro models too, the tradition continues. However, GeekBench tests reveal the amount of RAM and a few hardware details of the latest iPad Pro. The tests include both the iPad Pro models, the 10.5-inch, and 12.9-inch.
As per the GeekBench details, both the newly launched iPad Pro versions come with 4GB of RAM. Both the devices run the A10X, with a processor clocked at 2.38 GHz. The combination of the processor and the RAM puts the latest iPad Pro models among the fastest devices in the market. The GeekBench ratings were first spotted and revealed by PhoneArena. Both the devices scored a rating of 3915 in single core tests and 9387 in multi-core tests.
Apart from the GeekBench latest ratings and scores, iFixit had also let out some details regarding the iPad Pro 2017 models. Instead of the smaller 10.5-inch model being based on the previously edition 9.25-inch version, it is more of a basic version of the larger 12.9-inch iPad Pro version, with a few extra boosts. The 4GB RAM is a combination of dual 2GB Micron LPDDR4 chips. The construction and hardware placement of both the models is not different this time around. The ratings also reveal that the all new iPad Pro is a blazing fast and powerful device and easily comparable with the larger, more powerful Apple devices. As per the ratings and tests by Bare Feats, the iPad Pro 2017 models come quite close to MacBook Pro in terms of performance. On comparing the iPads with the fastest i7 core processors, iPad Pro still manages to catch up. Apple has claimed that the newest edition iPad Pros are really fast and can replace laptops, even adding additional features like the Dock and Files app to make it seem more advanced.
iPad Pro 10.5-inch and 12.9-inch models come with iOS 11 and in terms of design, slimmer bezels. The devices retain the Retina display and also come with a new feature termed Pro Motion, for much speedier scrolling and a smooth reading and browsing experience. The display is also the brightest Apple display so far. Both the models sport the 12-megapixel camera with optical image stabilization, along with a 7-megapixel FaceTime HD camera.There is a physical TouchID button on both iPad Pro tablets.
