Despite being a well-designed productivity-focused tablet, the iPad Pro doesn't seem to be capable of withstanding extreme pressures.

Last month, Apple announced a bunch of new products at its special event in New York. Of these, the new iPad Pro tablet is particularly interesting. Available in 11-inch and 12.9-inch screen sizes, the iPad Pro (2018) comes with some really nifty features, including a super-fast A12X Bionic chipset, and a redesigned Apple Pencil that can now charge wirelessly. That s all great, but is Apple s newest tablet as strong on the outside, as it is on the inside? Apparently not.

Zack Nelson, the YouTuber known for conducting endurance tests on electronic gadgets on his channel JerryRigEverything, recently put the 11-inch model of Apple iPad Pro (2018) through its paces. The result? Well, let’s just say things didn t turn out too well for the device. In the video (embedded below), Nelson starts off by testing the iPad Pro s display for scratch resistance using multiple picks conforming to Mohs hardness scale. The screen gets scratched a little at level six, with higher levels resulting in deeper scratches.

The YouTuber then proceeds to scratching the entire chassis of iPad Pro using a metal blade, with the body getting scratches all around, but still remaining intact. The rear camera also gets scratched quite easily, although the display recovers quickly from Nelson s burn test.

To finish things off, Nelson goes for his signature bend test, holding Apple iPad Pro (2018) horizontally and applying force in the middle with his thumbs. It s at this point that the tablet gives away, snapping in the middle with almost zero effort at all. This leads JerryRigEverything to conclude that the tablet doesn t have any structural integrity, so one must be very careful as to not put any pressure on the device.

So, if you ve purchased the new Apple iPad Pro (or are planning to buy one soon), make sure you take proper care of it.
