While the existence of iPad Pro with Face ID has been detailed by analyst Ming-Chi Kuo in the past, now more evidence has appeared in the developer beta of iOS 12. Apple developer Steve Troughton-Smith has discovered new evidence in iOS 12 that hint at Face ID equipped iPad. Smith uncovered an iPad version of AvatarKit in the latest developer preview of Apple’s mobile operating system. New in iOS 12: AvatarKit comes to iPad. Still requires a TrueDepth camera to do face tracking, though, i.e. an iPad with Face ID pic.twitter.com/9TvP2vsP6X

As of now, Apple has included AvatarKit only with the firmware of iPhone X since the feature requires TrueDepth camera to track your face. The existence of AvatarKit in iPad firmware strongly suggests that the next version of iPad will include TrueDepth camera and support Face ID. It will also likely feature minimal bezels and drop the Touch ID home button. It is not clear whether the next iPad will have edge-to-edge display design similar to that of iPhone X.
At WWDC 2018 held last month, Apple was widely speculated to launch the new version of iPad Pro. However, the company seems to be planning to launch the devices at a later stage. Bloomberg had reported that the next-generation iPad will have slimmer bezels, a faster processor, a custom-designed GPU and support for Face ID facial recognition system.

Taiwanese publication Economic News Daily claimed that Apple will launch the new iPad Pro with a 11-inch display replacing the existing 10-inch model. Kuo believes that the 2018 iPad Pro will be launched during the third quarter of this year. The new iPad might arrive alongside the rumored 6.1-inch LCD iPhone and iPhone X successor in September.
